God Will Take Care of You

Play/Pause Stop
Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? —Matthew 6:26, KJV

While sitting in the breakroom during lunch, my coworkers and I often share our feelings and ideas on various topics. One day, we were discussing retirement.

Some of the ideas flowing from our conversation included the uncertainty about having funds that were comparable with our current salary. Some were not sure what they would do with all that time off. Others said that they would travel and do all the things they were unable to do while they still had to be at work each day. One of the ladies said, “Why are you all worrying? You will all be fine when the time comes.” That statement was so powerful; it made me realize what we are reminded of in the Bible regarding the loving, caring God we serve.

Just as God takes care of the birds of the air, the animals, and all the creatures He created, He will also take care of His children. Sometimes, we forget this.

Sometimes, we do not even remember to ask Him, and still, Jesus is there for us. One day, as I looked out the window, I saw a squirrel lying under the tree in the garden. He was on his back, relaxing, without a care in the world.

Then suddenly, he turned over, leaped to his feet, and quickly scurried up the tree as a car drove past. Remembering this incident helps me to recognize that we are to continue to rely on the goodness of God, and no matter the situation or circumstance, God will take care of us. So when it is my time for retirement, I will choose not to worry.

I will simply ask for God’s guidance and move forward knowing that the One who has promised to take care of me is faithful to His promise.

I need have no fear, for God will take care of me.

Are you anxious about the future? Have you experienced financial loss, health challenges, or strained relationships? Turn to Jesus. Spend time in His Word, and find the promise for today that He is holding out to you. Here is one of my favorite promises: And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love.

Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them (1 John 4:16, NIV).

Dear Lord, may we trust Your promise and be assured that You will take care of us.
