Many years ago, Lovely was with her relatives in West Malaysia when they went on an excursion to watch a young shepherd boy taking care of his sheep in a big field.
In her mind’s eye, she saw David as a shepherd boy, as portrayed in the words of Psalm 23. Lovely felt comforted. Years later, she remembered how God had provided for her during difficult times. A friend had told her, The LORD’s hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear (Isaiah 59:1, NKJV).
Lovely needed the Lord’s long arm of help again this year as she dealt with the challenges of having cancer. She kept trusting in His providence, particularly when she needed financial assistance for her cancer treatment. Reflecting on Psalm 23:1 gave her assurance of God’s care. She knew firsthand all about the treasures of God’s providence.
When she told Him her needs, she believed He would supply them.
She claimed Philippians 4:19. When her doctor needed to sign a referral letter so she could apply for financial assistance, she took courage in God’s promises while waiting for the approval she knew would come through as a blessing from God.
Lovely had learned that, ultimately, God will provide for all her needs.
A few weeks after applying for assistance, Lovely received approval for a surgery subsidy from a private organization. How she thanked and praised the name of the Lord God for giving her the means to continue her treatment. God does not fail in His promises.
Lovely asked in faith for God’s help (see Matthew 21:22), and she keeps asking, seeking, and knocking (see Matthew 7:7, 8). By faith, she knows that God will open His windows of heaven and pour out His blessings (see Malachi 3:10).
Only He can remove every obstacle along the way and give to her from the treasures of His providence. I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help? My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth (Psalm 121:1, 2, NKJV).
