He Cares for You

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. —Isaiah 41:10, ESV

Have you ever faced circumstances in your life that left you wondering, Why me? I remember an incident that occurred a few years ago.

One sunny Tuesday morning I drove to a nearby store to purchase a gift for a friend. Unfortunately, while returning to my car, I fell and broke the little finger on my left hand. Unable to use my left hand, even though I am right-handed, I was not able to do as much around the house or in the garden. More importantly, it became difficult to care for my ninety-six-year-old mother, who was now my responsibility.

As a result, one of my sons, who was out of work at the time, came to assist me. Shortly after he arrived, my daughter-in-law, who had also lost her job, decided to join him. No sooner had she arrived than my orthopedist informed me that I would need surgery to correct my broken finger. The surgery was performed soon after, and on the following Thursday, my mom fell and broke her hip. I thank God every day that my son and daughter-in-law were around to assist me and especially to help with my mom when so many things happened all at once. Because of her broken hip, my mom had to be moved into a nursing home for therapy.

A month after entering the nursing home, she fell again and had another break in her hip. Ultimately, she succumbed to her injuries and passed away soon after. In each unfortunate circumstance, God was visible. He sent the help I needed just when I needed it most. Miracles—too many to mention here—were performed one after the other as the Lord found ways to provide for both families throughout these difficult times.

The Bible reminds us, Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths (Proverbs 3:5, 6, ESV). God takes care of His own, and we should never doubt His power to make provision for our needs because He is an on-time God.

We can safely trust in Him, believe in Him, love Him, and have faith in Him. He will always see His children through.
