And the Award Goes To . . .

Play/Pause Stop
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. —Revelation 22:14, KJV

The presentation of the Grammy Awards is one of the most star-studded events that takes place in the United States of America. This award ceremony is presented by the Recording Academy to recognize outstanding achievements in the music industry, and a great deal of preparation goes into an event like this. If you have ever watched this event, you may have noticed how the nominees—the stars—are dressed. Their hair, outfits, and makeup are just right. Everything is perfect. Their speeches are well prepared, and for many, I imagine the after-party celebrations are the highlight of the evening. I have often wondered about the second coming of Jesus. How much preparation are we making for this event? Are we diligently sharing the good news of Jesus, the Bright and Morning Star? What about our lifestyle? The way we choose to live life each day? Is there a marked difference between the way we speak and dress compared to the people of the world? When Jesus comes, He will be coming with awards.

Instead of the highly prized gramophone trophy given to the winners at the Grammy Awards, He will give each of His faithful ones a crown filled with stars.

So, as God’s children, let us be in the world but not of the world.

May we not allow the world and its practices to draw us away from preparing for this glorious event, which is soon to take place. The winners at the Grammy Awards give acceptance speeches. What will my acceptance speech be? I think I will be speechless! There will be no red carpet in heaven; instead, we will walk on streets of gold.

And we can only begin to imagine what Jesus has in store for us. The Bible says, “But as it is written, eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9, KJV). My dear sisters, let us be faithful. Let us ask Jesus every day to prepare us for the greatest event of all ages. Even so, come Lord Jesus!
