God’s Goodness Knows No Limits

O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. —Psalm 34:8, KJV

My family and I were fulfilling our missionary stint in London, England. Previously, we had traveled to the United States of America, where my husband, Horace, had pursued further theological studies. Now we were farther away from Jamaica, our island home, than ever before. Since we were stationed in London, my sister Yvonne, who was teaching mathematics back home in one of the high schools, seized the opportunity to submit her application for the teacher-exchange program to teach in London for a year. London covers a vast area of square miles and is further divided into sections designated by the four cardinal points.

My sister and my family eagerly awaited the response to her application. Late one afternoon the telephone rang, and I answered it. It was a long-distance call from my sister in Jamaica. We listened with bated breath as she told us that she had received a reply from the teacher-exchange program. “You would never believe it, but listen to this,” she exclaimed as she began to read her response letter to us. “Your application is accepted, and you are assigned to teach at Willesden High School in London.” Shrieks of rapturous delight emanated from our lips. Why the outburst? Willesden High School was only a stone’s throw away from the Willesden Seventh-day Adventist Church, which was one of the churches that came under the precincts of my husband’s pastorate. We were tireless in our praises as we recounted how God had orchestrated everything in His great wisdom. Within a few weeks, Yvonne arrived in London and lived with us during her stay there. She had a wonderful experience with the staff and students at Willesden High School and enjoyed the fellowship of the people in our churches.

And to top it all, she was able to visit a few European countries. Yvonne was indeed blessed by her London teaching experience, and we also were truly blessed.

What a great and marvelous God we serve! He is interested in every detail of our lives and works for our benefit so that we can give Him all the praise and the glory He rightly deserves.
