When I was growing up, my mother took my siblings and me to the Catholic Church. One day my grandmother, who was a Seventh-day Adventist, asked my mom if I could accompany her to church. I honestly believe the Spirit of the Lord told my mom to consent. I soon attended church every Sabbath, and I really enjoyed it! I joined Pathfinders and, later, Adventist Youth. Eventually, my grandmother asked my mom if I could be baptized, and she agreed. I was baptized at the age of seven and have been a part of the church ever since.
However, my journey was not always smooth.
You see, I struggled to understand the doctrines.
I vividly remember praying silently to the Lord and telling Him about my doubts about the Sabbath, diet, and some of the other beliefs of Adventism.
My heavenly Father, who knows all things, orchestrated sermon after sermon over the years specifically for me. I felt like He was saying, “My child, I know you do not understand, but be encouraged; this message is prepared specifically for you.” And so it was; every doubt that I had was answered through messages from the pulpit.
Throughout the years, as I have seen God’s guidance in my life, I have also developed a habit of communicating with my heavenly Father.
Through this channel, He has guided me, and yes, I have seen His mighty hand at work in my life, especially in helping me to remain in good faith.
I look forward to the beautiful home He has prepared for me.
I long to see Him, and I look forward to saying the words of the apostle Paul: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7, NASB). What about you? Do you have any doubts today? What are your struggles? Is there something keeping you from saying yes to Jesus? I pray you will choose to give up all your doubts and say, “Yes, my Lord, enter into my heart.”
