God’s Plans Bring Success

Play/Pause Stop
“He responded, ‘The LORD, in whose presence I have lived, will send his angel with you and will make your mission successful.’ ” —Genesis 24:40, NLT

It had been a grueling three months of study, assignments, quizzes, and exams leading to the final certification exam, for which a 70 percent grade was required to pass. I had lost two days of study due to an office emergency and another day driving to a family funeral. I also missed one of the two-day in-person reviews while attending the funeral.

It did not look good for my grades. Despite all of this, the Lord delivered a stunning 86 percent grade on the exam! God answered our prayers.

Now I was headed home. Nothing can go wrong, I thought as I praised God for the victorious certification achievement. I arrived early at the airport and returned the rental car, but in my rush, I boarded the wrong shuttle. No problem, I thought.

I will remain on the shuttle until we reach the American Airlines terminal, get my preordered wheelchair, and proceed to my gate. However, I discovered everyone had to exit the shuttle at the Delta terminal. There I stood, with three pieces of luggage and a carry-on bag, needing a wheelchair due to my upcoming knee surgery.

I struggled to get inside the terminal and asked God to help. A gentleman in an airport uniform offered to assist me. He secured a wheelchair and kindly said, “I can help you with that.” He loaded my luggage onto the wheelchair, and we headed toward the American Airlines terminal. As we chatted away, I forgot to check my luggage in.

Arriving at the gate, my “angel” unloaded my luggage.

Then another “angel” informed me my flight was at another gate; the gate I was at was for an earlier flight. When I requested permission to board this earlier flight, I was asked, “Do you have any luggage checked in?” Praise God! The mistake of not checking in my luggage earlier turned into a blessing. I was now eligible for the earlier flight.

Circumstances, mistakes, and oversights often appear to obliterate our plans, but they may place us directly within God’s plan. His direction brings great peace and joy! Even when we experience severe turbulence, as occurred on the flight, we can rest in perfect peace, secure in His hands, because He knows His plans for us. Isn’t He amazing?
