My dad loves to drive. When I was younger, he drove a taxi during the week, and on Saturdays, he would drive us kids to see family and friends in the evening.
We looked forward to those trips and to the treats he would buy for us. Even as an adult, I counted on my dad to drive me to places that were too far to drive on my own. Once I had to attend a job function six hours away. I called Dad, and he gladly agreed to drive me. We had a wonderful time. After we started toward home, rain began to pour. I sat next to my dad, completely confident that we would get home safely.
Dad was very careful, and he had a history of being a safe and successful driver. As Dad drove through the night and the rain pelted the car, I wondered aloud if he could still see clearly enough to drive. He responded kindly, “Don’t worry, Rose. If you just watch the white line on the right as you drive, your car will keep straight. Just follow the solid white line!” It has been a long while since Dad gave me this advice. Though I had been driving for many years, I had not paid attention to the significance of following the solid white line until that night. Now, when I drive in the dark and the way seems hard, I think of my dad, and I follow my father’s counsel. I have a Father in heaven who left me very specific guidelines as I go through life’s journey. When I am afraid and unsure, He tells me not to fear because He is with me.
When life is hard, He assures me that He will never leave me.
My Father has a history of telling the truth and a record of keeping His promises. He is very near in good and tough times. Our heavenly Father is Dad to us all.
He loves us and reassures us that He is our God, and He is in the midst of our lives. He is the Mighty One, and He will save us. Our Father knows what is best for us. His truth will guide us throughout our lives, and it will lead us safely home.
All we need to do is follow the solid Word of God!
