God’s Way

Play/Pause Stop
Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. —Psalm 27:14, KJV

Before retiring, I had big intentions of settling in the country. My desire had been to enjoy country living, breathing fresh air and growing most, if not all, of the food we would consume. As the years passed and health issues arose, the idea of country living became less desirable. I allowed my thoughts to focus on the “what-ifs.” What if we got sick and could not get to the medical facility necessary to provide the medical care needed? What if a section of the road was destroyed due to flooding? What if the electricity failed? Many thoughts occupied my mind, but the topmost thought was about having to drive on a curvy, dark country road in the rain. Sadly, I allowed thoughts instilled in my mind by Satan to divert me from God’s plan, and I settled for something less. We made the transition to Georgia, United States of America, when we were in poor health, but we stabilized quickly. I was unhappy with where we had chosen to live. I started to look at land for sale. I found at least three tracts of land, but each time I thought the property was within reach, a problem would arise, and it would become unavailable.

I had pretty much given up hope when, one early spring morning, I felt impressed to drive into the country in another county to see whether I could locate land for sale. After driving for some time, to no avail, I headed home. Then I noticed a “For Sale” sign, almost out of sight, in the ditch. I contacted the seller, but the price was $5,000 more than I wanted to pay. When I asked about a reduction, they immediately reduced it by $5,000 without me even mentioning how much I was willing to pay. I knew God had orchestrated this entire scenario. As I reflect on the path taken in acquiring this land, I must acknowledge that it was God’s intervention that made it happen, despite the obstacles in my previous attempts to purchase land. My friends, never lose hope! Be persistent despite difficulties when you know it is God who is leading you. “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5, 6, KJV).
