Wanting to switch up my workout, I decided to go for a hike.
I found a trail called Rainbow Mountain. As I began to work up a good sweat, I was surprised by how rigorous the hike was. The trail featured many large boulders on the path and hard uphill climbs. It was very unpredictable, and I was filled with anxiety about getting lost in the middle of that expansive park, especially as I wondered whether there were mountain lions in the area. However, the beautiful scenery calmed my fears.
The only thing that remained constant was the waymarks.
I knew if I followed the path marked “Rainbow Mountain Path,” I would not get lost. As I walked, I came to a fork in the road and noticed there were no more waymarks. I walked back and saw a sign that said “Private Road.” Returning to the labeled path, I soon found my way back to my car. My friends, we should look for the waymarks as we wait for the promise of Jesus’ return. I am reminded of this beautiful hymn: Look for the way-marks, the great prophetic way-marks, Down through the ages, past the kingdoms four.
Look for the way-marks, the great prophetic way-marks; The journey’s almost o’er. Down in the feet of iron and of clay, Weak and divided, soon to pass away; What will the next great, glorious drama be? Christ and His coming, and eternity.* My friends, Jesus is coming to take us home. Determine to look for the waymarks!
