Know Your Conductor

Play/Pause Stop
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. —1 Timothy 2:5, 6, KJV

Having a personal relationship with God is so important.

I was reminded of this in a situation that occurred one early spring morning as I darted out of the house. I was headed to the nearby train station to catch the commuter train to go to work. It was essential to get this train because it was the last one for the day going to my job’s location. As my husband drove me to the station, I quickly read my devotional for the day. When we got to the station, the train was already there and getting ready to depart.

As I rushed out of the car, the train began slowly pulling out of the station. When the conductor glanced out the door and saw me, he quickly radioed the driver to stop the train. That allowed me to board and find a seat. I was so appreciative of his kindness and continually thanked him and thanked God. As the train pulled out of the station, my husband called me to say what an amazing thing had just occurred. He had never seen that situation happen before. I told him I had not either. Then I mentioned that the only reason it had happened was because I knew the conductor personally and had developed a nice camaraderie with him.

It was easy to do because I saw him on the train every day as I commuted to work. God is our heavenly Conductor. He knows us. He sees us every moment of our lives. How important it is for us to develop a personal relationship with Him, to meet with Him every day in Bible study, reflection, and prayer. Then, “when the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him” (Isaiah 59:19, KJV).

When we are accused and lied to by the enemy, the Spirit of the Lord will raise a banner against him. Jesus will mediate on our behalf and stand up and say, “Stop! No further! I know her; she is covered by My sacrifice.” We are loved by our God, my friends.

He is always there for us and loves us more than we can imagine.

Let us take time to get to know our heavenly Conductor.

We will never find a closer Friend than Jesus.
