“Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” —Mark 11:24, NKJV

Many years ago, my husband, Michael, and I set to planning a family vacation to Germany. We were all so excited. Jesse, our eldest who was taking German at secondary school, was eager for the opportunity to practice. But all the excitement in the foreground was overshadowed in the background with the fact that all four children’s passports had expired. Summer vacations are usually a busy time for many families, resulting in hectic schedules at the passport office. We prioritized applying for new documents.

Fortunately, our home was a short distance from the post office, where we found applications and information packs. Passport pictures can also be taken there.

We completed this process three months before our departure date. And then the waiting began. In my mind’s eye, I thought we would wait for about eight weeks, so I felt sure we had applied in time. After a couple of weeks, one of the applications was returned. There was something wrong with my son Nicolas’s photograph.

We quickly rectified the problem and returned the application the following day. We prayed every day during family worship for speedy processing and waited for answered prayer. Two weeks later, the new passports began arriving. One, two, then three.

Prayers continued, and thanks ascended for each one. Time went by quickly, and soon we were into the final week. But the passport for Nicolas had not yet arrived. We were due to fly out on Thursday. Monday and Tuesday came and went, and still the missing passport had not arrived. I walked into my eldest son’s room that Tuesday evening and saw the most beautiful sight. Four boys all knelt in a circle, holding hands, praying for Nicolas’s passport to arrive on time. Early the next morning it arrived by special delivery.

Our boys had a life-changing experience with the Living God.

They knew, beyond a doubt, that He hears and answers children’s prayers too. I was reassured to see them turn to God in prayer.

Friends, there is power in the prayer of faith.

Put it to the test today.

God is faithful.
