What God Will Do

Play/Pause Stop
He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. —1 Corinthians 1:8, 9, NIV

As Christian women, we are called to look to the Lord in faith while looking forward with anticipation of what He will yet accomplish.

To find the greatest evidence of looking upward in faith, just look at the faith chapter, Hebrews 11. The chapter starts with the definition of faith: “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1, NIV). From there, the author goes on to mention several heroes of faith: Noah, Abraham, Joseph, Moses, Gideon, David, and Samuel. Even Rahab is mentioned. Though they were all just weak, sinful humans, as are we, they had faith. Where did they get it, and where can we get it? God gives each of us a measure of faith, according to Romans 12:3. Faith is God’s gift to us, and once we have that gift, we are called upon to grow it. James tells us that growth comes through trials and challenges that test our faith (James 1:2, 3), but we can be assured that through it all our Lord is with us and will never leave us or forsake us. We can have faith in Him because He is faithful.

As we consider God’s faithfulness, our hearts will fill with gratitude. David, in Psalm 103, provides a wonderful list of things for which to be grateful.

He writes, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits” (verse 2, KJV). Our Lord forgives our sins, heals our diseases, redeems our lives, crowns us with love and compassion, satisfies our desires with good things, renews our youth, and works righteousness and justice (see verses 3–6). He has not failed us, and He never will.

In addition to all these blessings, Jesus outlined our greatest hope and expectation for the future when He promised, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am” (John 14:1–3, NIV). Blessings are ours as we trust in God’s promises for the future.
