The strength of the foundation on which a house is built determines its ability to stand firm. The same applies to our Christian faith.
Our faith in God depends on the truths that have been settled in our hearts and minds forever—truths that have been tested in the storms, trials, and challenges of our human experiences. Every precious promise in the Word of God is grounded in the merits of Christ Jesus. In moments when you are tempted to doubt, question how God feels about you, or wonder what your future holds, three truths will help you stand unshakable:
Truth 1: God loves you, and nothing you do can change His love for you. “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you” (Jeremiah 31:3, NKJV). Romans 8 settles forever that nothing shall ever separate us from the love of God. Our love for God may waver, but His love for us will never change.
Truth 2: Sin has damaged everything in us. “But we are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6, NKJV). This truth will keep us from trying in our own strength to be what only Jesus can make us through the power of the Holy Spirit. Our part each day is to yield, abide, and surrender every sin and brokenness that sin has created in our lives so that Christ can heal and restore us.
Truth 3: We can live confidently in the assurance of our salvation. “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:13, NKJV).
We may doubt our salvation, but as we look at Jesus hanging on the cross for us, all doubts vanish. Our salvation has never and will never be based on our merits but on the merits of Jesus. Therefore, live each day with the assurance of your salvation: “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6, NKJV).
