The God of Perfect Timing

Play/Pause Stop
It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. —Psalm 18:32, NIV

Our God is a miracle-working God. He leads His children in the way that is best and right for them at all times. Sometimes we do not understand the way He leads.

We think He is making a mistake in taking us through certain paths in life, and we try to help Him or to counsel Him. Sometimes we ignore Him and go in the way we consider best for ourselves. In the end, we realize we have made a mistake and have only ourselves to blame for not allowing the all-knowing God to plan our steps for us.

Through personal experience I have learned it is better to wait for God to lead the way. He alone is able to arm me with strength and make my way perfect.

But sometimes I still grow impatient as I wait for the Lord to handle my situation. Talk about the folly of human nature, indeed. Recently God performed another miracle to remind me to allow Him to take charge. I needed a few different visas for the trips on my work itinerary. I applied for them one by one, including a visa to Israel, but the consulate did not respond. Additionally, I needed to renew my American visa, and I prayed that the Israeli Consulate would call for an interview as soon as possible. When they did not, I had to drop off my passport in order to receive my American visa. At the time, my husband was traveling, making the issue all the more complicated. The day for departure on the trip to Israel drew closer. I still had no visa, and my passport was at the American embassy.

I prayed again, and it seemed God was too silent. So I decided to leave the Lord to sort it out Himself while I occupied myself with the work at hand. One morning I received a call from my husband, who told me he had just heard from the Israeli Consulate. They said we should come and pick up our visa on June 7. I shouted for joy to see how perfectly the Lord had timed everything. My husband was due to return home by June 5, I could collect my American visa by June 6, and we would be ready to travel to Israel by June 11.

What a God of perfect timing. He made the best plans for us concerning these trips. Dear friends, do not worry yourself out of God’s perfect plan for you.

Trust His timing—He is a faithful God.

Wait for Him, and He will arm you with strength and make your way perfect. What a wonderful God we serve!
