It was a hectic day. My daughter, Sharon, and I had traveled hundreds of kilometers from our hometown to the capital for Sharon to register after having finished her nursing degree. After hours of waiting, we finished our work and started the journey home. We purchased our tickets for the local train just as I saw a train arriving at the next platform. Without thinking it through, I foolishly urged my daughter to jump onto the train track and climb the platform to board the train. She hesitated, but I jumped, and she followed.
Because she was a lot younger, she easily climbed up onto the platform, but I could not. Though I tried and tried, I could not pull myself up and out of danger.
Suddenly I heard a train racing toward the station.
When I looked, I saw it was heading toward me on the tracks where I was standing. The people on the opposite platform shouted at me, warning me of the oncoming train. Even with all the adrenaline flooding my body, I still could not climb onto the platform. At the very last second, two men jumped down from the opposite side and pulled me up. Grasping my arms tightly, they hauled me to safety as the train shot past.
It was all over in a fraction of a second.
I was so shocked that I stood shivering from head to foot.
I did not see the faces of the two men who saved me while risking their own lives. They disappeared into the crowd. When I came to my senses, I realized that God must have sent His angels and saved me despite my careless decision.
I pray that I will see them in heaven one day, whether they are angels or men. I would like to thank them. Yes, my dear sisters, how true it is that God sends His angels to guard and keep us safe in all our ways. He has promised, “He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him” (Psalm 91:15, KJV). God is faithful in His promises. Though we may fumble and take some unwise steps, God, the keeper of Israel, who neither sleeps nor slumbers, watches over us and protects us.
I can testify to the truth of this promise: “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken” (Psalm 37:25, KJV).
So do not worry. Place your trust in Him.
He is a caring, loving Savior.
