Sometimes in one’s golden years, the tendency is to sit back, relax, and count our blessings. I purchased a recliner lift chair for my husband after he became very ill. It made a big difference and helped ease some of the challenges that come with growing older. A few years later we needed to move in with our oldest daughter.
One evening I noticed that everyone was relaxing, enjoying a chance to put their feet up. Yet here I was, sitting in a less-than-comfortable captain’s chair. My son-in-law encouraged me to purchase a recliner, and by the grace of God, I was able to make that purchase. Now I could join the rest of the family in relaxing. After four months of enjoyment, my chair started to make loud noises every time I tried to recline it. I asked my son-in-law to take a look, and he found the problem. Armed with this information, I called the manufacturers. Now, I am usually adamant about keeping the instruction manuals of everything I purchase.
After making a note of the date of purchase, I typically put them away safely. But now, I could not find it anywhere. How frustrating! When I made the call, the first thing they asked for was the reference number. I explained my dilemma and was told they could not help without the date and number. Once again, I searched but found nothing.
I called the company back, and they repeated their instructions. But this time I had prayed before calling. The customer service representative said, “Mrs. Johnson, if you can take a video with your phone and send it to us, we will be able to hear the noises and may be able to help.” I am not a videographer, but I made a video and sent it.
A little later I called to make sure they had received my video. They confirmed they had, and then I heard no more from them. One day I received a package.
I was not expecting anything, so imagine how happy I felt to open the package and find a replacement part for my chair. God had answered my prayer. I was overjoyed. My friends, God cares about the little things in our lives.
He loves us unconditionally with an agape love that can never be duplicated. If you are waiting for an answer, be patient. Our time is not His time, but in time He will show Himself faithful.
