A few years ago I found myself relocating to a foreign land. This relocation was the result of my family’s decision. Even though we prayed about it and felt God was leading us in that direction, the question remained of what God wanted us to do in this new land. I obeyed His lead but still felt uncertain about the purpose.
A year after the move, as I stared through my kitchen window, I began to reflect on some of the areas I currently served in and how God’s hand was guiding me. Though I still had many questions about the future, I began to experience an overwhelming sense that God was directing me. You might have many questions, as do I, about where God is taking you and what He wants you to do, but rest assured—God has His own system for directing our lives. Being led by God does not mean life will always go smoothly or that we will execute His plans with precision. But if we stay on course, God will take us to the destination He has planned. Depending on where you live, it might be necessary to rely heavily on a Global Positioning System (GPS) in your vehicle to take you to unknown and distant places. The Global Positioning System is extremely helpful and is usually correct, but there are those few occasions where it leads you into a route that is longer than necessary. The GPS can lose its satellite connection at times, and sometimes it directs you to a completely wrong destination.
While a GPS cannot always be entirely relied upon, there is a better navigation system that is completely trustworthy, reliable, and correct—that is God’s Positioning System. In this system our heavenly Father, who created us, carefully maps out the course of our lives and plots each turn, curve, bump, and hill in a way that will ultimately lead us to His kingdom. Though there may be times when we do not follow God’s lead and end up lost, our God mercifully reroutes us and reissues His directions so we can get back on course.
So whatever you are experiencing physically or emotionally, whatever you feel anxious or concerned about, remember that you can rely on God to show you the way He has created for you. He can be trusted to lead you in the right direction.
God’s Positioning System never fails, and it will lead you home.
