Today was a most interesting day. In the morning I had a doctor’s appointment, and as my husband and I stepped out onto the porch to leave, I noticed a young boy in our driveway. We startled one another. I asked, “What are you doing? What do you want?” He mumbled a response, and all I could make out was, “Nowhere.” Then he took off running. I followed him through our backyard. He tried to get through the side fence but could not do it, so he ran and tried to climb over the back fence. It was too tall, so he hurried back to the side fence and dashed out onto the street. I told my daughter when she came out.
She was concerned. We drove to my appointment and made a few other stops before going to the bank. There I noticed a group of people gathered around our vehicle. They motioned for me to roll down my window and asked if we knew there was a cat under our car. Surprised, we answered, “No!” My daughter became frantic because she thought she was killing a cat. A young man asked my daughter to open the hood. I got out to listen and heard a very soft meow. The young man instructed my daughter to turn the wheel, and he caught a glimpse of the kitty. He asked for a jack and jacked up the car on one side.
The kitten moved farther back, and all he could see was its paw. He tried but could not reach the poor kitten. My daughter was afraid he would hurt himself, but he was determined to rescue the kitty. He went to a store across the street and came back with some cat food. Kneeling down, he held out some food between the tire fender and the wheel. She smelled the food and stuck her head out to receive it. She ate but stayed out of reach.
That did not stop our angel in disguise.
He continued to talk and encourage the kitty, and after almost an hour-long ordeal, the kitten climbed into his hands and meowed. I attempted to hold her, but she would not leave her angel. God works in mysterious ways, His wonders to perform. The young boy in our driveway was not being mischievous but was looking for his runaway kitten. The kitten remained unharmed after being trapped under our vehicle for miles, and an angel helper refused to leave until he had rescued the kitten. What an awesome God we serve.
