Believe in God’s Promise

A Chinese couple was married less than a month before the husband was called to serve in the military during wartime. Before leaving he promised his beloved wife he would return and urged her to wait. As the war intensified he was severely injured and spent a long time recovering in a special care unit. When he was finally discharged, he rushed home, only to find that his wife had moved from their shared home.

After searching the area in vain, he decided to remarry and start a new family. Fifty years later he discovered that his first wife had never stopped waiting for him. Despite being told he had died and being forced to relocate for safety, she held on to his promise, believing he would return. While human promises can falter, God’s promises remain steadfast. After His resurrection Jesus reassured His disciples of His reality and the certainty of His return. In John 14:3 He promises, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me” (NIV). We can fully trust in God’s assurances.

For those who are faithful, facing death with faith is possible, knowing that God never lies and will fulfill His promises, even in their rest (see Hebrews 11:13).

Belief is a manifestation of faith and love.

Moreover, believing in God’s Word leads us to live with purpose. Faith provides hope that propels us forward. Finally, the promise of God’s return offers profound inner peace. In a world filled with turmoil—marked by conflict, injustice, and natural disasters—it can be challenging to thrive spiritually. The environment often feels unwelcoming, and people may easily stray from their Christian values, conforming to the crowd instead.

We must remember that God has set us apart. He has promised that He will return to take us home with Him. His Word is filled with promises we can hold on to. His Word has the power to transform us. As Paul reminds us, “And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform” (Romans 4:21, KJV).
