Let them know that it is your hand, that you, LORD, have done it. —Psalm 109:27, NIV

At church one day, while studying the book of Deuteronomy within the context of Jesus’ temptation in the desert, it struck me that Jesus wrote the answers He would one day use in response to the devil long before He would need them.

It is amazing how God sets everything in place.

I know these texts are usually used to emphasize the fact that Jesus knew His Bible well and that we should also know it well. Nevertheless, looking at this story from another point of view helps us understand that God already knows the outcome, and although He sometimes waits for us to ask, He’s able to supply any need—even before we know there is a need.

God is awesome! Too often, though, we are so busy with our day-to-day routines that we miss what He has done. I remember on one occasion while running some errands, I miscalculated the amount of money in my account.

By the time I realized it, I had run out of money and did not have enough to get back home. However, God knew I would be in this situation long before it happened.

He moved someone’s heart to deposit an amount owed to me—on that very day and at that very hour—before I even realized I had nothing left.

I know things like this do not happen every day in such a grandiose form, but little things happen each day. Little details, little blessings, little things that add up and fill our days with peace and gratefulness. While there will always be frustrations and stress, things we have misplaced, and things on our to-do list that get rolled over to the next day, there will also be moments in which we see things fall into place, meals done, chores done, surprises in the kitchen or even at the office. It can be just a matter of asking God to help us see His hand in our lives on a daily basis. God has already written the Deuteronomy in each of our lives.

We can trust that when the time comes, His provision will confirm, yet again, that God loves His daughters and takes care of each of us in a unique way, and He will always have our best interest at heart. May God bless you and keep you, may His countenance shine over you, and may you always know His perfect peace in your hearts!
