Let God Remind You

Play/Pause Stop
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” —Isaiah 43:18, 19, NIV

On a quiet morning, when all I could hear was the sound of the wind, when my heart was in touch with the Almighty, the stage was set to tell the Lord, “Here I am; speak: your daughter listens.” There on my knees in the presence of God, I decided not to speak a word before the Lord. Rather, I came to Him so He could talk to me.

After all, He already knew my worries, my anxiety, so there was no need to tell Him how I felt. I decided to listen to my God in silence.

And He did speak to me. He reminded me of His mercies, the times He had opened a road in the desert, and the many times He had formed streams in the dry land.

He told me again of all the difficult situations I had encountered in the past and successfully overcome. What a marvelous experience! How could I forget it? How could I not tell others about it? In our journey with God, many times, we are too quick to tell the Lord our thoughts without giving Him the space to speak to us. His Word says, “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10, NIV). God loves to show up in the stillness of the soul.

When we are quiet, the greatness of His power can be manifested.

Let us give Him the opportunity to bring to our minds those beautiful memories when He worked on our behalf. The times that we were strengthened, the times He took us over the mountains of difficulties, when we flew as renewed eagles, full of strength and vigor.

Pour out your heart and be still.

Cry, if you must, but remain; wait on Him, and allow the Holy Spirit to carry your mourning with unuttered groanings before the Father, and I assure you that He will speak to you. Jeremiah reminds us, The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD (Lamentations 3:25, 26, NIV).

May God help us to remain quiet before His presence so that He can reveal His power in our lives.
