Washed Equally

And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. —1 Corinthians 6:11, KJV

Living in a time of social media communication, we have grown accustomed to people accumulating “likes” on their social pages.

Depending on the motives of the person doing the posting, many “likes” may be a good or bad thing. How will we know which it is? We must always examine our walk with God and determine whether we are following in Christ’s footsteps or falling away from Him.

Even in biblical times, Christians collected “likes.” Acts 15 tells the story of how the Jewish brothers thought themselves superior to the Gentiles because they piously upheld many restrictions and ceremonies that tradition had placed upon them before Christ’s death on the cross. Now, when the Gentiles accepted Christ after His death, there was no need to keep the ceremonial laws. God accepted the sacrifice of His Son for our sins.

Christ treasures a faithful and true relationship with His children.

He accepts faithful saints today as much as He did those many years ago.

We all fall short and sin, one way or another, but we do not have to give in to the temptation of judging others. And we certainly do not need to speak aloud and compare our differences as did the Jewish Christians of old. Why? Because that would be gossip, and in gossiping, we would be committing a double sin. Judging belongs to God alone.

Remember, all our righteousness is like filthy rags.

The only one pure enough to judge any of us is Jesus.

In Christ, we have been justified—may we each realize that His love knows no human boundaries. We place our trust in Jesus Christ that we will be forgiven and sanctified through His holy name. With true confession to God and turning away from sin, even the worst sins may be washed clean. What a blessing! Thank You, Lord, that Your forgiveness extends beyond our human understanding. Your Son’s blood has washed and covered all our sins.

Hallelujah! May our lives honor everything You have done for us.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
