Oftentimes we neglect to call on Jesus for the help we need and rely instead on talking to others about stressful situations we encounter in our daily lives.
A situation took place a few weeks ago where I was waiting on an important letter that was scheduled to arrive in two days.
The courier’s office gave the assurance that if an expedited fee was paid, it would certainly arrive on time. So that’s what was done.
Two days later, I looked for the van to arrive with the letter, but no letter arrived on the scheduled day. I checked the tracking information, and it showed the letter had not yet left the original outbound shipping location. I called the company to investigate the delay, and the representative emailed the outbound location to obtain a status.
I continued to track this letter on a daily basis; four days later, it reached my state at a location near my city. The joy I felt was indescribable.
The tracking indicated an expected delivery the next day.
When I checked its status on day five, it had a red line through it with a note it had been delayed. Oh, my! What is happening? I wondered. I called the courier’s office and heard the distressing news that the letter had been lost. This is when “Pray continually” (1 Thessalonians 5:17, NIV) came to mind. So that is what I did—I started to pray and asked Jesus to help the courier find the missing letter. The next morning, I checked its tracking status again. This time, it was marked green, and a note stated it was out for delivery.
When it arrived later that day, I fell to my knees and thanked Jesus for answering my prayer. Nothing that concerns us is unimportant to God.
Not even a missing letter. As His children, we are urged to pray without ceasing. Let us take our requests and concerns to Him.
As believers, we must pray without ceasing and do as the psalmist did when he reminds us, “O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever” (Psalm 136:1, KJV).
