God Has a Plan for You

Play/Pause Stop
I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. —John 14:18, KJV

Sometimes our dreams, plans, and goals are put on hold, and we find ourselves helping someone else birth their dream instead of birthing our own.

We may think we are out of God’s will by not being about our Father’s business. We may wonder why God is not blessing our dreams but growing someone else’s dream.

In these moments, we need to take a step back, reflect, and pray.

God may be putting our plan on hold for a reason.

By helping someone else reach their goals and dreams, we may end up helping to birth our own. Let me explain with the story of Shiphrah and Puah, who were two midwives during the time the Israelites lived in Egypt. Pharaoh instructed the midwives to kill all the baby boys they delivered. Shiprah and Puah did not obey.

They told him the Israelite women were so strong that they were giving birth before midwives could even arrive. They disobeyed, risking their own lives to save the lives of those little ones (see Exodus 1:15–21). During this time, baby Moses was born.

By saving him, they were eventually freed from slavery.

They did not realize it at the time, but his birth would bring about their rebirth and their freedom and eventually lead to the Promised Land, where their descendants would discover a God who had chosen them and who would fight for them, provide for them, and bless them. Just as God used Moses’ birth to bring freedom to those two midwives, God can work through all things for you. God may call you to help someone else birth his or her dream and put your own on hold. You may not see it yet, but by being a midwife or helper, you are bringing your own baby to fruition. God has a plan for you. He is faithful and will complete the work He has begun in you—even when it feels like nothing is happening.
