Nature Walk With God

Play/Pause Stop
I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works. —Psalm 145:5, KJV

After careful planning, my husband and I relocated from California to North Carolina, United States, several years ago, a few months after our wedding.

It was a huge change that brought us closer to one another and to God.

During our getting-to-know-the-community phase, we traveled extensively from town to town, trying to take in all the luscious greenery and beauty so carefully designed by our Creator. How different, in comparison, to California, with its dry, drought-stricken scenery. On a regular basis, heaven would open as rain refreshed the land, providing food for the birds of the air, the animals, and His children. We were captivated by God’s magnificent creation.

While walking along the many trails, we encountered others basking in God’s beauty. Tall trees fashioned by Him, with smaller trees nestled below, created a small community among the foliage. The birds’ chirps filled the air with their songs.

The buzzing of the bees and the colorful butterflies reminded me of my heavenly home. The fresh, crisp air early in the morning gently stroked my face and caressed my senses. The psalmist cheerfully says, “Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD” (Psalm 150:6, KJV). Even nature praises God in its own way. God has provided everything for us to enjoy.

The lilies of the fields, the oceans, all were made for us.

The fragrance of God’s indescribable wisdom cries out as we taste His blessings. He is an awesome God who loves us with immeasurable love.

He created heaven and earth and called it good (Genesis 1), and we should do the same! Over the years, as I have reflected on our journey, I have realized how blessed we are, even while living in this sinful world. How beautiful the Garden of Eden was before sin—the grandeurs of earth provide only a small glimpse of heaven.

It is unimaginable for my finite mind to grasp.

I can only glory in His Creation that gives me peace in this sinful world.

When was the last time you ventured into nature to walk and talk with God in quietude? Have you exercised stillness so that you can listen to the quiet sound of the trees brushing against each other? Do not allow life’s everyday battles to rob you of enjoying time with Jesus.
