The Tender Voice of the Lord

Play/Pause Stop
“Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts.” —Hebrews 4:7, NASB

Hearing the voice of God in the midst of the turmoil of the world is, above all, a privilege for us. In a world where screams and moans transcend the imagination and shake the intellect, the Master’s soft voice is a relief in the wilderness of existence.

It is necessary to relearn to hear God’s voice—in the whisper of the breeze, in the song of the bird, in the joke of a child, or in the serenity of prayer.

The voice of Jesus brings comfort and courage in the face of fear and struggle. His voice reaches us wherever we find ourselves and gives us peace.

He can turn impatience into calm, ingratitude into gratitude, anxiety into serenity, and disappointment into victory. His love redeems us and brings us from darkness to light. It is when we sit by His side and let Him speak to our hearts that we realize the healing power of His presence. Jesus patiently waits for an opportunity to be with us.

He does not invade our privacy. He respects the freedom of choice given to every human being, but oh, how He craves time with us! He longs to bless each moment with us. Where the Master dwells, there is peace, joy, and love, even in times of anguish and suffering. The power that emanates from Christ is able to supply all our needs.

He speaks to us through His Word, which has the power to heal our deepest wounds. His promises bring hope and rest to weary souls. Those who invite and delight in the Savior’s presence experience how great our Lord is. If you hear the voice of God today, do not harden your heart with doubt or unbelief. Allow yourself to experience something extraordinary—give yourself a moment alone with the One who moves the entire universe to be by your side. Then you will be able to understand that there is no greater love than the love of God! A life away from the Lord is a life without purpose, but a moment at His side is enough to give meaning to our existence. It is in the love of the Father that true happiness is given to us.

It is in the arms of the infinite Lord that we find peace.

What does God want to share with you today? Be still, and listen for His voice. “Come close to God and He will come close to you” (James 4:8, NASB).
