Big Enough With God

Play/Pause Stop
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? —Romans 8:31, KJV

I love my morning walks. I get to enjoy beautiful scenery and greet my neighbors, and I see many animals along my route, both wild and domesticated.

I often talk to these animals, although most of them merely give me strange looks or run away as fast as they can! However, I have an especially fun relationship with two little Yorkies who live about a mile from me. I named the first one Molecule because he was so small. He would occasionally come out and bark at me, and I always sweet-talked him—for all the good it did me! One day I walked by his house and discovered he had a sister, whom I named Atom, because she was even smaller than Molecule. However, her size did not deter her at all. She was much more ferocious than Molecule, even coming out into the street and baring her teeth at me. If I saw my two little dog friends, it was a good day.

They did not realize this, but I was happy to see them, and they were happy to bark and “scare” me off. I eventually met their owners, and they assured me that the smaller dog (actually named Hope) would be a menace to everybody if she weighed more because she was not afraid of anybody. Her brother, Hunter, has remained more laid back.

One day, as I walked toward their house, I saw a woman approach with a large dog, many times Hope’s size. Seconds later, Hope came rushing out, barking like crazy. I was concerned for her safety and relieved to see the woman holding her dog back so he would not get too close. I explained that Hope, no doubt, thought she was the same size as the larger dog. Luckily, nothing bad happened, and Hope was left with her illusions of hugeness. I began to think about Hope’s bravery and realized that I could be like her.

No, I do not intend to start chasing large dogs, but I have realized that I am a match for anything or anybody as long as I have God on my side.

After all, anyone who is with God is in the majority.

Each of us is big enough for whatever comes as long as we stay close to Him. Thank You, Lord, for being there for us so that we can handle any problem that comes our way!
