Should I Board?

Play/Pause Stop
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. —Philippians 4:13, NKJV

My husband and I headed to Boston Logan International Airport in Boston, Massachusetts, United States of America. I was flying to Puerto Rico on a tour to promote my new book and my recently released music CD. I was taking this trip solely by faith and was in constant prayer regarding the trip and the ministry. My flight was delayed because of bad weather, and I had a connecting flight to catch. The gate agent assured me that he would check to ensure I would make my next flight before I boarded the plane. The flight was delayed two more times. Then the computer system went down, making it impossible to verify whether the first flight would land in time for the connecting flight, which was the only daily flight to my final destination. After several hours, they called the passengers to board the flight. Would I have to spend the night in Newark, New Jersey? Was there an alternate flight? Should I just go back home? I had a radio interview and a concert scheduled for the next day. “I can’t miss tonight’s flight, Lord. You are my only hope,” I said. “Should I board?” I asked the courteous agent.

“Wait a moment,” he replied, quickly realizing he had no way of checking. I decided I would board, trusting in the Lord. I was confident that He would provide a way for me to reach my destination if we were not on time for the next flight.

When we boarded the first flight, it was actually time to board the second flight. When I finally arrived in New Jersey, I hurried from terminal A to terminal C.

I felt weak, tired, and hungry, and my load was heavy (due to lack of experience in the travel business). Was my connecting flight still there? I steadily marched on. Finally, after almost an hour, I reached the gate at eight o’clock at night. “We are delayed, waiting for a flight attendant and should be departing at about eight forty-five,” the agent said. Praise the Lord! What a relief! I had barely made it! No! We—the Lord and I—had made it! Dear Lord, You are always on time. Thank You!
