Verse:Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. —1 John 4:11, NIV
You and your sister are closer than most twins,” my father-in-law observed. Even with our three-year age difference, we joke that somehow God made us twins! We know what the other is getting ready to say before she says it.
We talk on the phone daily, and when we hug each other, it is a warm, powerful, healing hug. For the question “What amuses baby?” in my baby book, my mother wrote, “Tibby. She adores Tibby.” To say my sister and I are close is an understatement. Everyone loves my sister. She is many people’s “best” friend.
She has been my best friend throughout my life, too, helping me through difficult times and sharing in the best of times.
She has the greatest sense of humor, like our father had. She makes me laugh so hard that I can’t catch my breath! No one does it like she can.
Tibby truly reflects the golden rule, “Do to others as you would have them do to you” (Luke 6:31, NIV). She spends time with friends, family, and perfect strangers, meeting them where they are. If someone is going through a difficult time, she will spend hours with them and has helped so many, including me.
She celebrates with me through my joys and helps me through difficult times —always with a waiting hug. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if more people were like my sister? There is pain in many families where people haven’t reflected love, so I know how truly blessed I am to be from a family where love prevailed.
My sister truly reflects God’s love.
Tibby has faced difficult times in her own life and recently had a scare with a lump in her breast. Thankfully, she did not have cancer.
She felt it was one of the best experiences in her life because she knew she was totally in God’s hands, and she was grateful to meet wonderful ladies through this experience. What a great outlook and faith! Ladies, if you don’t have a best friend or sister, know that all the ladies who write for this devotional are your sisters in Christ.
Please know that Jesus is your Best Friend.
You can always count on Him. He is always with you.
Every day, I thank God that He gave me a sister who reflects His love to me and so many others.
