The Hezekiah Effect

Women · From the book New Every Morning

Verse:

Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple of the LORD and spread it out before the LORD. And Hezekiah prayed to the LORD: “LORD, the God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth.” —2 Kings 19:14, 15, NIV

The story of Hezekiah is written twice, in 2 Kings 19 and in Isaiah 37. When Hezekiah received a threating letter from Sennacherib, king of Assyria, he took the letter to the temple, spread it out before the Lord, and prayed.

God answered Hezekiah’s prayer in an amazing way.

God sent an angel to solve the problem.

The angel killed 185,000 men in the Assyrian camp.

When Sennacherib returned to Nineveh, his sons killed him.

I decided to take Hezekiah’s method to solve my problem.

I wrote the problem on a sheet of paper, spread it out on the table before the Lord, and prayed. Then I waited on the Lord for His answer.

God blessed me abundantly. Thus my Hezekiah effect prayer ministry was born. I shared this ministry at church, women’s retreats, and with many who came to me for prayer. When my friend Charlotte and her husband, Doug, had a housing problem, they could not find a home at a specific reasonable price.

I had them write their problem on a sheet of paper.

I placed the sheet on the floor. Then I had each of us put a foot on the paper and hold hands, and we prayed. God solved the problem.

What problems are you facing that you cannot solve? What debts are you in that you cannot pay? What situation are you facing that you have no idea what to do or where to turn? Please do not try to solve it yourself.

Give your problem to Jesus.

Write it on a piece of paper, spread it out before the Lord, and pray. No matter what you are called on to face in this life, learn to turn to God first for the help you need. Even though God doesn’t always answer yes, we must trust Him when He answers wait or no. Remember, prayer, trust, faith, and obedience to God are the solutions to all our problems. Try the Hezekiah effect today.

Write down your problems and requests on a piece of paper, lay it before the Lord, and pray. God will amaze you with what He can do with your situation.
