No Mistake!

Aman received the surprise of his life when his Paypal account was accidentally credited ninety-two quadrillion dollars.

That’s a thousand million million dollars —one thousand trillion dollars, eleven hundred times more than the combined gross national product of every country on the planet at the time.

But within just a few minutes, Paypal had corrected its mistake, and the man’s net worth was back to where it had been at the start of the day. The money had been removed from his account, and his balance was back to normal.

The man in question said later that he was neither surprised nor disappointed that the money had been removed from his account.

He said he never expected the “giver” to honor such an extreme “gift.” But think of what God does. Every person who accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior receives from God the gift of everlasting life.

Everlasting life is worth far more than ninety-two quadrillion dollars! Someone checking the balance of their spiritual bank account might be tempted to say, “This can’t be right! Who gives such an extravagant gift?!” But God says, “No, that’s not a mistake. It really is all yours. I’ve given you —an undeserving person— an extremely gracious gift, and I have no intention of taking it back.” Salvation cost heaven the life of the Son of God. No earthly wealth could ever approach the value of the gift God gave the world in Jesus. While unanswered prayer can lead some people to doubt God’s goodness, the truth is that God’s grace is extravagant. God is the giver of all good gifts. Jesus said He came to this world to give us life “more abundantly” (John 10:10).

Paul tells us we are saved by grace and through faith. We don’t deserve God’s grace, we cannot possibly earn it, and we will never be worthy of it.

But by faith, we can claim the greatest, most incredible, and most valuable gift ever imagined. God gives the greatest gift of all.
