Verse:“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” —Jeremiah 33:3
Researchers say there will soon be devices that will make communication with pets possible. It is said that pet owners will be able to communicate with dogs and cats and possibly even farm animals.
While humans and animals have been “communicating” for millennia, researchers say they are now taking this a step further than we have ever experienced. If these claims prove to be true, people would be able to explain to their dog that they want it to stop barking or understand what the dog is barking about. But while animal behaviorists are working out how to talk to cats, it is more important what we learn how to effectively communicate with God. God assures us, “Call to Me, and I will answer you” (Jeremiah 33:3).
Prayer is a simple science. Even the most effective prayer is nothing more than a matter of opening up the heart to God just as you would to a friend.
While prayer may result in God doing for us things He might not have done had we not prayed, the ultimate goal in prayer is not simply to get one’s own way. If marrying a certain person was actually going to make you miserable, you wouldn’t want God to answer that prayer in the affirmative. Or if getting a certain job would only result in life becoming less enjoyable, you would be thankful if God did not grant your petition. Correctly understood, prayer is a matter of finding out what God wants in a given situation, which is why in Matthew 6:10, Jesus taught us to pray, “Thy will be done.” This does not mean we aren’t to have a will. Jesus’ preference was that He not go to the cross (Matthew 26:42), but He submitted to His Father’s will, and His Father’s will be done.
Researchers suggest we might one day learn the language of cats and dogs. But it’s the language of prayer that is essential.
You can talk to God anytime. He really is man’s best Friend.
