Royalty!

Adults · From the book The Hope Of Glory

Verse:

And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” Therefore, you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. —Galatians 4:6, 7

She thought it was a prank call. “We want you to be the new king!” someone was telling her at three o’clock in the morning.

But it was not a hoax. The king of her tribe back in West Africa had died. As his niece, she was considered by some to be the sort of person who would make an ideal king if she took his place. One day she was working as a secretary in Washington, DC, and the next—to her great surprise—she was king of a tribe of seven thousand people. (That is not a typo. She was to be the king, not the queen.) Several sudden transformations are mentioned in the Bible. Betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, unjustly imprisoned, and forgotten by those he had helped, Joseph was in desperate straits as he languished in an Egyptian jail. But literally, overnight, Joseph went from utter disenfranchisement to being one of the most powerful figures in the government of a great nation. He was a farmhand when he was chosen to be the spokesperson for the God of heaven. What’s more incredible is that when you accept Jesus as your Savior, you go from being a slave of sin to being a child of the heavenly King.

Paul told the Galatians, “You are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ” (Galatians 4:7).

When you have faith in Jesus, a miraculous transformation takes place. No longer a sinner, you become a saint. No longer guilty of sin, you are forgiven and acquitted. No longer a “commoner,” you become royalty! This remarkable transaction takes place by faith. When you choose to believe God’s promises, those promises become true in your life. At that moment, you become royalty, the child of the Majesty of the universe.
