I Will Be with You

Women · From the book Color my world with love

Verse:

He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. —Psalm 91:15, NKJV

I’m afraid that I don’t have any other alternative for you. We have to operate and remove these fibroids,” the doctor announced. This wasn’t my first time to have fibroids. The first time they occurred, the doctor had also suggested surgery. But, you see, I do not like any part of my body being altered unless it is a life-and-death matter. I knew, once I was cut, I would never be the same again. So I wanted to try other alternatives. We prayed, and God opened a way for the fibroids to come out without an operation. So, here in the doctor’s office, I thought, God did it then; surely, He can do it again! The problem was that this time, these fibroids were different; they sucked the blood out of me. My hemoglobin kept dropping. I tried changing my diet and herbal treatments. I had people praying for me, but the problem persisted.

At last, my doctor told me, “If you do not want an incision, why don’t you consider laparoscopy?” I talked to God and asked Him to either “let this cup pass from me” or give me a clear indication to proceed with the operation. Lord, I need to know what Your will is in this situation, I prayed. It took almost nine months before I knew what to do. The day came when I needed an operation. This time there was no hesitation in my heart. When I was admitted to the medical facility, I had great peace. I was taken into the operating room, smiling and with no fear. God had promised that He would be with me, and that was all that mattered. I could feel I was being lifted up in the prayers of my loved ones and friends.

A month later, a friend asked me to encourage her colleague, who was in a more serious medical situation than I had been. After I spoke and prayed with the woman, she testified of the peace she felt. Then I wondered, Could it be that God wanted me to go through this experience so that He could use me to help encourage His other daughter? I praise God for being with me in trouble, for delivering me, and for honoring me!

Could it be that He also wants to be with you in your troubles today? Of course He does. Take courage, for as long as He is there with you, all will be well.
