Verse:Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. —Philippians 4:6, 7, NLT
Excitement filled the air. I was going to Washington, DC, to attend the graduation of my goddaughter, who had completed the doctor of philosophy requirements in clinical psychology. My brother greeted me at the airport and took me to my son. The next morning, Friday, I awoke very early, dressed, and waited for my son to take me with him to his work at the hospital. From there, we would work out the transportation logistics to get to the graduation venue.
All went as planned. The graduation was beautiful, followed by a lovely dinner on the waterfront. All too soon it was Sunday and time for me to return to Huntsville. Since my son was on call, he took me to the airport on his way to work. After checking in for my flight at the kiosk, I went to the bathroom and placed my cell phone on the tissue dispenser. I proceeded downstairs, joined the security line, and waited my turn to be scanned. While in line, the attendant reminded passengers to remove electronics, phones, keys, or other items from their person. Hearing that announcement, I immediately realized my phone was missing.
I continued to place my items on the belt and then collected them on the other end. I quickly headed back up the escalator to the bathroom, praying all the way that I would find my phone. Reaching the stall, I thanked God that it was vacant and rushed in, only to find my phone waiting for me where I had left it! Again, I went through security to have my items scanned. This time one of my bags was selected for extra scrutiny. I was amazed since these were the same bags, and I had not put anything new in them. Why was this bag not selected the first time I went through? God knew I needed to go back to find my phone as quickly as possible.
Despite all this, I was able to arrive at my gate in time to board my flight. God is interested in every detail of our lives. Let us continually thank Him for His promise of peace. He kept His eye on my cell phone and protected it in that busy Reagan Airport.
