Don’t Doubt, Just Believe

Women · From the book Color my world with love

Verse:

Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. — Psalm 128:3, NIV

How could the promise in today’s verse be true for us ? My husband and I had been married for twenty - five years ! The older we got , the fewer chances we had of having children . Then one January day in 2017 , while driving , I poured out my heart to the Lord in tears ( as did Hannah when pouring out her heart for a son ) and reminded Him of the promises He made in His Word .

“Ask and it will be given to you ; seek and you will find ; knock and the door will be opened to you . For everyone who asks receives ; the one who seeks finds ; and to the one who knocks , the door will be opened ” ( Matthew 7 : 7 , 8 , NIV ) . Driving and praying , I mentioned that perhaps we could adopt a child .

Around 4 : 00 ( European time ) on an April morning , I received a phone call from the Christian layman we support in the Philippines . He said , “ I have two kids here , a four - year - old boy and a two - year - old girl . Do you want to accept them ? ” I was speechless . I said I could not decide by myself and that I would call him back . To make a long story short , the kids — a brother and sister — are now in my hometown in the Philippines . We send them to school and provide for their needs . When their young mother died , their father didn’t know how to support them with only his low - paying job . No one in his family wanted to accept the children , so we decided to help them . The promise of Psalm 128 is now a reality in my life . The Lord has provided seven children for us — not only financially but also spiritually . God is so good ( all the time ) !

He has granted me the desires of my heart ( see Psalm 20:4 ) . May He grant your heart’s desires as well . And may He fulfill in your life the purposes for which He created you .

He knows what is best, and He remarkably answered our prayers . He is always on time. So when doubts are clouding your mind about God’s promises, brush away those doubts. Tell yourself, My God is so big , and He knows my needs .

Even if it’s difficult, trust , believe , and wait . God will do the rest.
