Room Enoughto Receive Blessings

Women · From the book Color my world with love

Verse:

I will . . . open [to] you the windows of heaven, and pour you out ablessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. —Malachi 3:10, KJV

I was not prepared for this medical situation, even though I knew I had an ailment that could worsen. My concentration was on completing postgraduate studies; all my finances and energy were directed toward this project. How was I going to manage to meet these medical expenses (which would include two surgeries), pay my regular bills, and provide for my basic needs? I needed a change in my financial situation. Attempts at change, however, proved futile to improving things. There was only one way left to try, and that was to consolidate my loans. Yet which financial institution would want to buy my exorbitant loans to relieve me of financial pressure? I prayed for God’s intervention.

One day, a close friend suggested I try a particular financial institution. I was reluctant at first but then decided to act on her suggestion. I qualified during the introductory process, but the approval process was still to come. Weeks passed while my loan was being reviewed—and with a request for more documents. I became frustrated but was encouraged by my loan officer not to worry and just provide all the required documentation. Another document was requested, which would probably raise questions about my unstable financial situation. I grew frightened and doubted that the loan would be approved.

I promised to inform my loan officer a few days later of my decision to withdraw the loan application. But God’s grace abounds, and the mighty hand of my loving Savior began to reveal itself. The telephone rang. It was my loan officer. “Ms. Cain,” he said, “I have great news for you: your loan has been approved on condition that you provide us with the last required document.”

Experiencing God’s mercy and grace during this financial crisis was overwhelming. I could barely comprehend and contain this blessing. I am reminded of the song that tells us any “river” we have to cross or any “mountain” we need to tunnel through is not too big of a challenge for God. In fact, doing the impossible for His children is something He delights to do. Trust our merciful Father, my sisters. He will do the impossible for you!
