Verse:From the Savior “And this is a sign to you from the LORD, that the LORD will do this thing which He has spoken.” —Isaiah 38:7, NKJV
My early mornings are filled with wonderful moments that God and I spend together. I cherish spending time with just Him alone.
One morning, however, my mind was crowded with many concerns: my husband’s brain tumor, my son’s swollen adenoids, my parent’s heart blockage, and so much more. It seemed the whole family was failing in health.
I was having a heart-to-heart talk with God during my predawn prayer walk. I wanted to feel Him close and deeply longed for an assurance that He was in control amid all this chaos in my life. The sky was still dim, with only a bare hint of the approaching dawn. How my heart longed to see something brighter, some sort of reassuring sign that God loved me! Lord, I prayed, if You truly love me, please show me a sign. I want to see something in the sky that will remind me of Your certain presence in my life. As soon as I said amen, I noticed a lone star in the sky shining brightly.
I became super excited and thanked God profusely.
That one star gave me a ray of hope that God would lead me through the present turmoil in my life. Jesus genuinely cares enough and has the time to answer the prayer of one wretched sinner like me —out of the 7.8 billion people living in this world! I was overwhelmed by His care! What a blessing to know that we have a personal God who wants to be intimately connected to us! Our God has always communicated to humanity through various means. In ancient Israel, the high priest wore a vest bearing two stones known as the Urim and Thummim. “When questions were brought for decision before the Lord, a halo of light encircling the precious stone at the right was a token of the divine consent or approval, while a cloud shadowing the stone at the left was an evidence of denial or disapprobation.”* Divine signs, patiently given, also signaled that God had chosen both Moses and Gideon to accomplish His special purposes. What a loving God to guide us! Great is His faithfulness! Dear Jesus, You are a God of signs and wonders. Thank You for all that You do for us every day.
Help us to respond to Your love with all our hearts.
