Verse:He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. —Revelation 22:20, NIV
Last Friday night, while my family was having worship, someone asked the question, “What do you think the atmosphere in heaven will be like?” As we made the rounds with answers from each family member, I was thinking about how I would answer the question. Almost everyone’s answer seemed to mirror everyone else’s: heaven would be a place of peace and quiet. Then I got it! When I think of the atmosphere in heaven, I think of a lot of people and noise. Here’s why. Some years ago, on the first weekend in May, I attended my twentieth high school class reunion in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. I still get chills when I remember that weekend, especially Sabbath.
You see, Sabbath was really the highlight of the weekend.
Oh, there were events planned on other days, but not everyone could make those events. But when Sabbath arrived, it seemed that everyone was there.
The number of people was amazing! I had flown to Canada from Bermuda. Another classmate had flown in from the Bahamas.
Others had flown in from different parts of the United States.
Then, of course, there were my Canadian classmates who were from all over Canada. Some lived in Oshawa, while others had driven to be there.
Most of us didn’t know who would be there until Sabbath.
More classmates attended this twentieth class reunion than had attended our ten-year class reunion. The speaker who had been a few years behind me in school was fantastic! Different and older classes were honored. I was able to sit with friends. The variety of music, as I remembered it, was heavenly.
You know what? As much I want to tell you about the weekend, it is hard. I wish you could have been there to experience it with me! This encounter with old friends reminds me of the greatest reunion of all —Jesus’ second coming.
There will be people from all over. The talks will be wonderful, and the music also heavenly. I will be able to sit with friends.
I will be reunited with loved ones I haven’t seen in a long time.
I can’t describe all that will happen, but you have to experience it with me. It will be a reunion to remember! Will you plan to be there?
