A Beautiful Garden

Women · From the book Covered And Carried

Verse:

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. … God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day. —Genesis 1:1, 5, NKJV

Today is a beautiful day,” I said to myself.

After experiencing several bitterly cold days, I was so happy to relax, open my window, and drink in some of the bright, beautiful sunshine.

As I relaxed, I thought about how our heavenly Father has everything under control. He hears our prayers and cries, and He attends to every detail in our lives. My bones had started to ache, and my feet felt as if they were unable to carry on (as a result of staying in the house for so long without exercise).

But that day, I was able to work outside and complete many of the chores I had been unable to do during the cold season.

Sometimes I wonder why people say there is no God when He has everything under control. He has a reason why He allows those several days of bitterly cold weather. I did some research and learned that the cold kills certain germs in the atmosphere. On the other hand, the cold weather can also destroy many beautiful plants, including mine. I had several plants that I adored, and I sadly watched their leaves turn from green to brown, and some eventually died. Sometimes this is what Satan does: he attempts to destroy God’s beautiful creation, yet God will not allow him to destroy the beautiful earth that He once created. There will be an end to sin.

I think of the heavenly garden where He is waiting.

He bids us come and meet Him there. We must do our part earnestly to be ready to meet Him and keep our eyes on the prize.

There’s a garden where Jesus is waiting, There’s a place that is wondrously fair. For it glows with the light of His presence. ’Tis the beautiful garden of prayer.* Lord, I really want to meet You in that beautiful garden where there will be no more bitterly cold days, sickness, sadness, death, or aching feet and bones.

There will only be beauty and joy all around us.

Our only task is to trust Him and be faithful until He welcomes us there.
