Verse:But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” —1 Corinthians 2:9, NKJV
During my childhood, my family moved frequently.
My mother was a single mom raising three children and always trying to improve our lot in life. I became somewhat accustomed to our frequent moves, but I didn’t like them! I cried when leaving my best friend and moving from Colorado to Arkansas when I was eight years old. Thankfully, I had cousins in Arkansas, and we lived close to each other for eight years, although we moved many times within our community.
When I turned sixteen, my brother asked us to come to live with him and his wife for two years. I resisted that arrangement, but off we went —and it turned out to be a great blessing. After finishing my high school years, I returned to the Southwest for college. I was reunited with a number of my old friends there and made many new friends as well. I must have become more adventurous as I matured because I moved back to Colorado after college, staying for two years before returning to the Southwest. And what did I do once I got there? I kept moving! Eventually, I found my wonderful husband and had our lovely daughter. I didn’t understand this meandering path for many years, but now I can see God’s leading. My many homes have made me more adaptable in many ways, and I have wonderful friends all over the country.
I picked up new skills as we traveled, and we have found a beautiful long-time home in the Oklahoma City area. I go to a great church, where my talents are needed and where I am loved and included. Yet I know that I have one more move to make —to my eternal heavenly home with God. Maybe He has allowed this discomfort here on Earth so that I will long even more for an eternity with Him!
