Master Puzzle

Women · From the book Covered And Carried

Verse:

Who among you fears the LORD and obeys the word of his servant? Let the one who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the LORD and rely on their God. —Isaiah 50:10, NIV

When we were little, we were fascinated by puzzles and building blocks. We felt very proud when we finally completed our masterpieces after hours or days of hard work. Today, as an adult going through a struggle, I often wonder how this fits into God’s puzzle for me. This is not to say that God sees us as a game or as a means to have fun. Yet He puts events, places, and people in our lives to help us grow, move forward, and heal from wounds. In these times, we also see His mercy and blessings in our lives. We do not deserve His love, but He showers us with it anyway.

I can certainly say that when I look back, even though I have had negative experiences, God has allowed both good and bad into my life so that I could learn to cling to Him, bring my heart to the cross, and surrender my life to His perfect will.

I like to think that God feels proud of any progress we make and will be joyous when the pain and evil in this world are over. We will spend eternity with Him as perfect masterpieces, made and redeemed by Jesus Christ, His Son. No matter where we are today or three years from now, we can trust that every piece of life’s puzzle has been put into place by Jesus if we are living in Him.

Though we do not have a picture on a box cover to preview what the fully assembled masterpiece will look like, the Holy Spirit is with us to guide and comfort us. He will bring encouragement even in those times when all we can see are pain and anxiety, when things are not going the way we may want them, or when our lives seem to be in a mess. May we open our hearts to God today.

His way is perfect —always. So the next time doubts come to mind and you feel discouraged, just remember, “I know I will not be put to shame” if I “trust in the name of the LORD” and rely on Him (Isaiah 50:7, 10, NIV).

We are works in progress in the hands of the Master!
