Quarantine

Women · From the book Covered And Carried

Verse:

Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. … “There shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” —Revelation 21:1, 4, NKJV

When COVID-19 broke out in 2020, people slowly adjusted to a different life. Social distancing, quarantine, handwashing, face masks, and disinfectants became life-saving necessities. Anxiety, fear, and uncertainty prevailed in the minds of many. Meanwhile, the world hoped for a cure. The regulation confining children younger than five years of age and adults older than seventy hit me hard.

I complied with the new rules as well as I could while secretly resenting the restriction on my movements. While fellow teachers taught their online classes from their offices, I taught from my apartment. I missed trips to the market and the shops. But I also knew that the isolation protected me from unnecessary exposure to the pandemic virus. It protected others from me if I was a carrier. Containing the virus depended on everyone’s cooperation. Meanwhile, everyone had to exercise patience and prudence. The prevailing situation gave me some new thoughts regarding God’s plan of salvation. Sin, like a dangerous virus, erupted in heaven.

Unexplainable, corruptive, and highly contagious, it began with Lucifer. Unchecked, it could have spread through the whole universe.

In His wisdom, God cast out Lucifer from heaven.

Then He quarantined Earth, where the virus had already spread because of man’s wrong choice to listen to the deceiver. Satan and his work of sin have been allowed to continue here so this vicious sin virus —with its symptoms, cause, and effects— will be so fully exposed and so clearly understood that the danger of reinfection will be eliminated. But God did not abandon the world to perish forever from the plague of sin. He had a remedy ready. The cure cost the life of His Son, whose blood, instead of ours, was spilled for this world that has been in isolation since it fell to sin.

One day the sin problem will come to its final resolution.

The quarantine will be lifted. Those who have accepted the cure through faith will experience life eternal with true freedom, complete freedom from sin and its ravages —the life God intended for humankind and for each of us.
