Don’t Worry, Be Happy!

Women · From the book Covered And Carried

Verse:

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. —Philippians 4:6, 7, NKJV

Have you ever had one thing after another go wrong, and it seems that you just can’t get a break? That was my experience when my husband and I relocated after our retirement. We had just moved to a new state and bought a house.

The following week after closing on our new home, my husband had to travel out of the country. Now I was alone. After he left, I spent all the next day cleaning the house. Everything seemed to be in good order.

All appliances and the air conditioning and heating units were working as they should. The following day I returned to the house and noticed that the inside of the house felt more humid than expected. As the day progressed, it grew hotter inside the house. I realized the air conditioning unit was not running.

While I struggled with that problem, I was also trying to find out where our belongings were because the shipping company transporting them kept giving me the runaround regarding a delivery date. On top of all that, I had lost the keys to our van.

It just seemed as if nothing was going right and that my world was falling apart. But with all that was going on, strangely enough, I didn’t feel overly anxious.

This surprised me because I am a worrier.

Yes, things didn’t seem to be going right, but as each problem presented itself, I’d pray about it and leave it in the Lord’s hands.

I had learned over the years that when I prayed and presented my problems or concerns to God, I should leave them at His feet. Why? Because He just wants me to trust Him when I can’t even trace Him. As I look into the future with all its unknowns, Philippians 4:6, 7 is a source of great encouragement to me. Why? Because I know I don’t have to worry or be anxious about anything. God is more than able to take care of me if only I put my trust in Him. He loves me enough to walk with me, especially in the midst of uncertainty. Won’t you trust Him to do the same for you in return for His love and watch care? Don’t worry about anything. Be happy that God cares for you.

He will guide your feet into safe pathways.

And He has promised that when we keep our thoughts on Him, He will give us peace.
