O What Love!

Women · From the book New Every Morning

Verse:

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?... No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. —Romans 8:35–39, NIV

Wow! What incredibly powerful words! Have you ever read a specific scripture multiple times, but another time you read the words, they suddenly impact you so profoundly that you pause and reread them, slowly reflecting on the message? Well, that happened to me recently. The scripture made such a deep impression on my heart that I read it over a few times. It was then that it took on a special significance.

Maybe it was because I was going through challenging valley experiences, and I needed those words of assurance that no matter what may happen to me or what stormy times I may be going through, God has me covered, and nothing can separate me from His unfathomable love. How beautiful! Immediately, I felt a heavy burden lifted, and my countenance changed. I began to hum a favorite hymn.

I can tell you from experience that bad things can happen and cause your faith in God to be shaken. Sometimes it may be difficult to believe that this is true.

Sometimes He may not come to our rescue immediately when life’s hard blows knock us to the ground, and we begin to complain, to doubt, to despair, to become discouraged, to ask, “Why me?” and even to lose faith.

Or He may use these challenging situations to test our faith or to give us a testimony to share that will encourage fellow travelers we meet along the road of life to let them know that God is real and that we can trust Him. He never fails.

I have been there, and God came through for me even when I stepped out of His will. It is no secret what He can do. I am thankful to God that I am more than a conqueror; I am a victor! I am a living testimony that He is real and loves us very much and always comes through for us. Nothing, no nothing, can separate us from His unfathomable love!
