Verse:And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. —Isaiah 58:11, KJV
Life can be exciting growing up in the countryside of central Jamaica. In this place, you are encapsulated in nature, waking up to the majestic sounds of musical birds and radiant greenery that compels you to stand still and acknowledge God’s beautiful creation. Here the air is fresh, unpolluted, and soft on your face.
These nature scenes provide you with a brief journey into the Garden of Eden with lush succulent plants. It is, indeed, a sight to behold.
I am a great lover of plants, and I have kept a beautiful patio garden for quite a number of years. I grow a variety of plants, but I especially find great joy in seeing my orchids sprout. And when they are in full bloom —oh, so beautiful! Since I also love photography, I use my garden as a ministry moment by taking photos of my plants and sending them to other women to light their day so that they, too, can sprout and appreciate a softer side of life with the unrivaled beauty of God’s creation.
Recently, I was tempted to throw away some stalks of a particular variety of orchid, thinking they would not sprout again. However, this variety has been faithful and bloomed many times. The Holy Spirit impressed me to keep them and exercise some patience. I obeyed the Spirit, and a couple of weeks later, to my pleasant surprise, new sprouts began coming out of what I thought was dead. And yes, I could not wait for them to bloom. And when they did, it was something to behold! Beautiful, pink, and radiant.
As it is in the natural, so it is in the spiritual.
Let us not count out the silent sprouts in our lives that are taking time to develop. We all have sprouts that we would like to bloom in our lives.
These silent sprouts vary from woman to woman and differ through the various stages of life. But whatever your silent sprout is, remember that the ultimate sprouting happens when we allow God to guide us continually and satisfy our soul in drought. He promises that we will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose water never fails. Happy sprouting!
