In God’s Garden

Women · From the book New Every Morning

Verse:

“Many daughters have done well, But you excel them all.” —Proverbs 31:29, NKJV

Most people prefer a well-designed garden with plants and flowers strategically placed to maximize space, sunshine, shade, and soil quality.

However, when we examine our natural habitat, we find that the Master Gardener designed earth’s garden in such a way that there is room for all to thrive in a beautiful and harmonious pattern. Each complements and benefits the other while sustaining our environment. So it is with each woman.

We are created as a thing of beauty —a bouquet of humanity in God’s eyes. We often don’t view ourselves that way. But God does! He gave each of us specific gifts and talents that are unique to our personalities.

You may not be the chief executive officer (CEO) of your company, but you are certainly the CEO of your home. You may not be the chief surgeon of your local hospital, but you are the chief medical officer to your children.

No one else can soothe the aching tummy, mend the scarred knee, dry the falling tears, or heal the bruised ego of a small child as quickly and as well as a loving mother. You may not be a professor at a prestigious university, but you are the first and best teacher your child will ever have. You may not be a dynamic preacher commanding huge audiences, but you are the best example of Christ’s love your child will ever know.

In God’s garden are women of every color, size, shape, height, talent, and beauty. There are plants in our gardens that are tall and sturdy, short and secure, dazzling in beauty and splendor. Each contributes to the total effect of a lovely garden.

Women in society are brilliant leaders of countries, government, industry, research laboratories, medicine, politics, law, technology, and banking.

All contribute their God-given talents, wisdom, and expertise to help make this world a better place. We must do all we can to encourage and support girls and women in our home, our church, and our community to be the best they can be.

Let’s remind them that they are truly “a thing of beauty” in God’s garden!
