Trust the Process

Women · From the book New Every Morning

Verse:

“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.” —Isaiah 12:2, ESV

On January 23, 2020, I had a total hip replacement surgery as a result of injuries from a car accident. After surgery, I had to learn to transition from a walker to a cane to no assistance, plus dress myself, drive, and do my everyday activities.

My orthopedic surgeon cleared me to go back to work on April 13, 2020. Unfortunately, that very day, my company decided to furlough approximately 85 percent of the employees, which included me.

This occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic.

I was one of approximately twenty-three million Americans who were collecting unemployment. It took six weeks for me to receive any unemployment benefits. During this time, I had zero income. I live on the south shore of Long Island, and my budget is tight. It was a very difficult time, but God took care of all my needs.

I was blessed to be able to go back to work full-time with my company in July. Unfortunately, not all my coworkers came back.

One challenge was my commute, especially during COVID-19.

I take the train to work and was very concerned.

I contemplated asking my boss if I could work remotely.

God clearly told me, “Do not contact anyone. I will tell them what to tell you! You still don’t trust Me after your major surgery, recovery, furlough, and getting your job back?” My mouth was wide open, and I humbly said, “I trust You, Lord!” I’m not sure how I missed the email from my boss stating, “Until further notice, I would like you to work from home.” Our God is amazing! Sometimes life may seem like things are overwhelming and you are in a whirlwind. I’m here to tell you no matter what’s going on, God promises to take care of you! He taught me to trust His process —to stay still, listen, and obey.

Our timing is not God’s timing.

Let’s continue to keep each other in prayer during this journey called life!
