Verse:Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. —Revelation 19:7, NIV
Teachers never experience a dull moment in the classroom.
When I was a first-grade teacher, one of my adorable students declared, “Today is the best day of my life!” She proclaimed this because she was allowed to eat lunch with her classmates in my classroom. To her, this simple treat was something she’d remember for the rest of her life. One of my colleagues was helping me facilitate this lunch in the classroom. Later, we spoke about my student.
I told my colleague that my student doesn’t know it yet, but she’s going to say that again with even more meaning as she grows up and experiences life events that will feel like “the best day,” such as when she falls in love with a wonderful man, he proposes, and her wedding day arrives! As this sweet memory returned to my mind years later, God inspired me with a spiritual lesson: the best day for humankind is the day when Jesus will return to earth to take His faithful followers home to heaven.
The Bible describes this grand event as a bridegroom coming to meet his bride (Matthew 25:6). For me, this will truly be the best day of my life! Our trials on earth will be over, and we will enjoy being forever in the presence of God! We will continue growing into all God intended us to be. Never will we suffer or sorrow again.
Satan doesn’t want us to focus on heaven and all that awaits those who faithfully follow Jesus Christ. He works hard to persuade us to build our dreams here on earth. He wants us to be so focused on working hard to make our earthly dreams come true that we forget about the bigger picture.
That bigger picture is that God has prepared a place for us and He’s coming back to take us home! Let us look forward to that “best day” and live for it!
